Method is broadly based on the approach of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). The emphasis is on learner needs with a focus on:

  • Clear linguistic objectives
  • Spoken communication built around meaningful tasks which promote learning
  • Functional skills (e.g. explaining, describing, negotiating)
  • Activity-based learning and authentic materials (maximising interaction through active communication)
  • Students as active participants (rather than passive)
  • The trainer acting as facilitator (giving direction, correction and feedback)
